The Icelandic Highlands have a way of defying reason — vast, silent, and alive with color. Nowhere is that more evident than in Landmannalaugar, where mountains ripple in hues of ochre, pink, and ash-grey, and veins of obsidian cut through steaming valleys.

I remember standing there as the mist lifted, revealing an otherworldly palette sculpted by fire and time. The land felt ancient — both fierce and tender — as if it had just emerged from creation itself.

This artwork invites you to pause and breathe with the landscape. To feel its calm beneath the rawness, its silence beneath the storms. It’s a tribute to the wild, unrepeatable beauty of Iceland’s interior, a place that still feels untouched by time.

Every artwork I create is meant to live many lives — to hang in one home today, and perhaps another decades from now. Its materials will endure. Its story will remain. And its calm presence will feel as timeless as the landscape it came from.

I create slowly, returning again and again to the same quiet places until they begin to reveal their rhythm. Iceland taught me that patience. My art — featured in Assouline’s Iceland Epic and collected worldwide — carries that same rhythm into the spaces it inhabits.

The signature affirms that the piece meets the highest archival and artistic standards.

Museum-Level Detail & Depth

Each piece is printed on archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag — a luxurious, thick, 100% cotton matte paper, prized by galleries and collectors for its softly textured surface and museum-level depth.

Combined with archival 12-color Canon Lucia Pro inks, it captures breathtaking sharpness, rich tones, and natural color that brings the scene to life — whether it's a misty Icelandic fjord or a windswept coastal plain.

The result? Museum-level clarity, subtle gradations, and a sense of presence so real you’ll want to step into the frame.

Framed to Perfection in London

Each piece is framed to order in London using solid wood (black and white frame) or solid pine core with oak veneer (oak frame), glass (small and medium works) or crystal clear 3mm framing-grade acrylic (large and extra large works), and expert craftsmanship.

Your artwork arrives ready to hang, with mounting hardware included and every detail professionally handled.

FRAMING GUIDE

Thoughtfully Framed. Beautifully Finished.

Framed in London Studio

Each artwork is professionally framed in London, where the artwork, glazing, and frame are carefully assembled and finished to ensure a refined, gallery-ready presentation.

The frames themselves are crafted in Germany by Nielsen — a renowned European frame producer known for its precision engineering and exceptional build quality.

This combination of German craftsmanship and London-based finishing results in a frame that feels deliberate, balanced, and beautifully executed.

Real Wood. No Imitations.

All frames are made from real wood — never MDF or imitation materials. The result is a frame that feels solid, natural, and timeless, with subtle grain and character that elevates the artwork rather than distracting from it.

The wood used is FSC®-certified, sourced from responsibly managed forests that meet strict environmental and social standards.

Glass & Acrylic — Chosen by Size

To ensure both clarity and durability, glazing is selected based on artwork size:

Small and medium sizes are framed behind high-quality glass, offering crisp clarity and a classic finish.

Larger sizes are framed behind premium framing acrylic (3mm thick) — lighter, safer, and ideal for substantial works, while preserving excellent visual clarity.

Clean, Modern Presentation (No Mount)

All artworks are framed without a mount, creating a clean, gallery-style, contemporary look that keeps the focus entirely on the image.

A subtle printed border around the artwork provides visual breathing room and balance, resulting in a presentation that feels intentional and modern.

A classic black frame suits almost any interior, while white or oak frames bring a lighter, more contemporary character to a space.

Ready to Hang

Every framed artwork arrives ready to hang, with secure hanging hardware attached to the back of the frame.

No additional preparation needed — just unpack, hang, and enjoy the artwork in your space.

“The frame quality blew me away! Solid, elegant, and beautifully finished.” – Peter F.

How I created this artwork

I had been hiking since early morning, the air still cool and damp from the night’s mist. Every few steps, the landscape seemed to shift — from rust-red slopes to pale yellow ridges, from green moss to streaks of blue-gray obsidian. Landmannalaugar is one of those places where you stop searching for words because none are enough.

I remember cresting a hill and suddenly seeing this view unfold — layers upon layers of color, shaped by centuries of geothermal heat and rain. The wind was sharp, carrying a faint scent of sulfur and stone. It felt as if I had stepped into another world, one both fragile and eternal.

I set up my tripod in silence, taking time to breathe in the vastness before framing the shot. The clouds moved fast overhead, softening the harsh lines of the peaks, and for a brief moment, everything fell perfectly into balance — colour, light, stillness. That was the moment I pressed the shutter.

Photographing in the Highlands always felt like a dialogue rather than an act — a quiet exchange between human patience and nature’s unpredictability. You wait, you watch, and when the land finally reveals itself, you’re reminded that beauty here is never still — it’s alive, breathing, changing with every shift of light.

When I look at this piece now, I remember that silence and that feeling of smallness — the kind that humbles you, and somehow, fills you with peace.
